Race and ethnicity impact a woman’s risk of breast cancer diagnosis. In fact, the lifetime risk of breast cancer for women in the U.S. is around 12%, but that rate is misleading without factoring in origin.
- The highest rate of new breast cancer cases overall is seen in Caucasian and African American women
- The lowest rate of new diagnosis is found in American Indian/Alaska Native women
